This qualitative research project examined how people in Poland experienced and understood their involvement in supporting refugees from Ukraine following Russia’s full-scale invasion. Using ethnographic methods, including participant observation, interviews, autoethnography, and netnography, the study explored emerging forms of solidarity, social relations, and civic engagement during the first months of the refugee response.
The project resulted in the collective monograph Społeczeństwo łatwopalne. Praktyki pomagania uchodźcom wojennym z Ukrainy w 2022 roku w Polsce (Flammable Society: Practices of Helping Ukrainian War Refugees in Poland in 2022).
